If the scent of freshly brewed coffee sees you making a beeline towards its source, you should have no trouble sniffing out Gordon Street Coffee. Just follow your nose and you’ll swiftly locate the small batch coffee roaster. Besides, if the aroma of newly ground beans doesn’t direct you, the clue to this artisan roaster’s location lies in its name. Voted Glasgow’s number one coffee shop, Gordon Street Coffee is a vegan-friendly cafe of some renown. The brew they serve up is spectacular, naturally, but there are other reasons why these coffee specialists have caused such a stir. Due to its prime location, the cafe attracts hordes of commuters passing through Glasgow’s Central Station. It’s the sort of place that makes you strangely grateful that your train’s running late, so you can linger a little longer and soak up that wonderful aroma. Glaswegian coffee connoisseurs are pretty much unanimous in agreement that when it comes to sourcing freshly roasted coffee, no other business does it better. Try Gordon’s Glasgow Roast, a combination of Guatemalan and Kenyan beans that are the product of a two-stage roasting process that delivers a balanced coffee with hints of fruit and a dash of chocolate. Open from 6am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and from 9 to 6 on Sundays, Gordon Street Coffee doesn’t just to a cracking cuppa – it also serves up fine pastries cakes and other tempting treats. The roasting experts, who recently celebrated their third birthday, stock a range of mouth-watering doughnuts and vegan-friendly bites such as a parsnip and lime cake which sounds like a strange one but proves sensational. They also stock hand crafted chocolates that come in flavours such as caramel chocolate java coffee bean. These can be taken home and grazed on or shared in the office, depending on how generous you’re feeling. If you live for coffee, you need Gordon Street Coffee in your life.

I went here after walking around Glasgow for a few cold hours and absolutely loved my Americano. It was smooth and rich and, with cream, perfectly balanced! The ambiance is perfect for a restful stop or a conversation with a friend and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Would come back next time I'm here!
